Ô de Lancôme, a juice out of step with its time

Ô de Lancôme made its appearance at the dawn of hippie trends and when the perfumes displayed a rather heady and very present scent. Indeed, if it paved the way for the typical lightness of the 70s, it clearly denoted the seductive and provoking scents of the 60s. However, all the conditions were met to accommodate such a scent: the Indian dresses that also wore Brigitte Bardot, the love that young people had for the Beatles… Thus, Ô by Lancôme was quickly perceived as the niche fragrance of the libertarian style of this new decade. What is more, it did not fail to amaze with its rounded name, both graphic and enigmatic, topped with a circumflex accent similar to that of Lancôme. Ô de Lancôme is a timeless juice which gives thanks to the prestige of the Eaux de Cologne of yesteryear, ancestral heritage of our modern perfumery. However, Lancôme has demonstrated immense know-how because this fragrance alone combines the traditional lightness of Eaux de Cologne while adding more tenacity hitherto non-existent in this type of fragrance. Ô de Lancôme is far from being a fleeting fragrance. It is both airy and dynamic while being chypre and jasmine. Its invigorating scent has remained particularly modern and this is how the Ô de Lancôme has survived the ages without ever taking a wrinkle. an immense know-how because this perfume alone combines the traditional lightness of Eaux de Cologne while adding more tenacity hitherto non-existent in this type of fragrance. The sustained and emblematic freshness of Lancôme

It was perfumers Jean Gréget and Robert Gonnon who created the Ô de Lancôme and who made it the most famous chypre, citrus and green fragrance in the history of perfumery. It begins with a citrus blend including lemon, bergamot and tangerine. Nevertheless, the lightness of this trio is embellished with the somewhat spicy bitterness of petitgrain. Then, basil, rosemary and coriander come into play and bring to the whole a more aromatic and vegetal facet. This continues in the heart of the Ô de Lancôme thanks to the presence of honeysuckle. The jasmine then brings a more opulent richness to this essence before being relayed by a deeper and woody base. It also contains oak moss, sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver.

The 1970s offered opulent, very elegant and powerful perfumes to women. But this decade also offered one of the greatest olfactory novelties of modern perfumery: the use of hedione. It is first of all the beautiful Eau Sauvage which will use this fresh accord, then it will be the turn of women to appreciate it thanks to the talents of Robert Gonnon in the pretty and innovative Ô by Lancôme.

O de Lancôme, the first great success of perfumer Robert Gonnon & nbsp;

When Robert Gonnon composed alongside Jean Gréget Ô de Lancôme, he was mainly inspired by the demand for ‘Armand PetitJean, the founder of Lancôme: the creation of a fresh fragrance that would exude the scent of masculine colognes without losing an ounce of femininity. The least we can say was that the bet was daring at a time when perfumes left chic, opulent wakes but certainly neither green nor natural.

Assisted by the founder of Lancôme in nobody, the two perfumers of the Firmenich company will use the recent discovery of their company to support their composition: hedione. Indeed, the molecule extracted from the jasmine flower was discovered not long ago and its delicately flowery but very aquatic olfactory properties were already appreciated in a great perfume bestseller, Eau Sauvage. So the creators chose to compose Ô de Lancôme around this beautiful hedione which will give the whole a completely new freshness and tone.

Ô de Lancôme will be the very first perfume created by Robert Gonnon. In view of his success, the young perfumer was quickly called upon by all the major perfume houses (Courrèges for Empreinte, Cacharel for Anaïs Anaïs…) to exercise his talents there.

Hédione et fragrances chypres for a breath of fresh air named O de Lancôme

Without a doubt, hedione has left its refreshing seal on the entire composition of Firmenich pour Ô de Lancôme perfumers. However, the brand new molecule has surrounded itself with the most beautiful scented raw materials in order to create what Armand Petitjean wanted as a “fresh and invigorating Eau de Toilette, deliciously spontaneous and natural. ».

Lemon, tangerine and bergamot compete in tangy zest to highlight the pretty rosemary. In the heart, the pretty flowers are revealed in the lines of honeysuckle and jasmine while coating themselves with the velvety velvety of a sunny apricot. The carnation brings to this heart its peppery floral facet where the hedione spills everything with its fresh and slightly lemony wind. After such a bath of freshness, the pretty Ô returns in depth towards powerful and chypre scents very trendy in the 70s. This is how vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli and oakmoss will make the delicate but very sensual nest of the invigorating Ô de Lancôme.

“The romantic woman has always had her place in the hearts of designers of clothing, cosmetics and perfumes. Lancôme has understood this very well and offers them a sublime and delicate energizing water. “Le Parisien for Ô de Lancôme.
