Shalimar’s story

Shalimar is a fragrance that was born in the middle of the Roaring Twenties. Very inspired by the Art Deco style, it did not fail to seduce, as much by its silhouette as by its scent. Nevertheless, he also owes his salvation to the history he hides behind his creation. Shalimar was made by Jacques Guerlain in homage to one of the most beautiful love stories of the Orient. This takes us back to the 17th century and tells us the story of Emperor Shah Jahan. Like all powerful men of his time and culture, he had several wives. Nonetheless, his favorite by far was Mumtaz Mahal. Both lived their love in the heart of a magical place: the gardens of Shalimar. Moreover, for the record, know that Shalimar means in Indian language “temple of love”. When Mumtaz Mahal died, Shah Jahan was devastated by grief. From 1631 to 1641 he had a luxurious mausoleum built in his homage in the heart of the Shalimar gardens. This temple of love is today famous all over the world. This is the Taj Mahal. However, it is precisely this romantic story that inspired the creation of this perfume. The feelings from which it draws its source are so strong that it becomes a timeless essence. It is therefore all this intensity that we find in Shalimar Breath Intense. The feelings from which it draws its source are so strong that it becomes a timeless essence. The new Shalimar Souffle Intense

Shalimar Souffle Intense comes in a bottle with an identical silhouette to that of the very first Shalimar. Its color is bluish today and evokes an Indian night, a magical moment opening the door to the most beautiful idylls. The shape of this bottle was originally designed by Raymond Guerlain, in 1925, in collaboration with Baccarat. It is a chiseled pedestal basin whose shape is inspired by the movement of water gushing out of a fountain in the gardens of Shalimar. The Shalimar Souffle Intense recipe is the work of Thierry Wasser, official nose of Guerlain. This niche fragrance begins with an intense and incisive freshness. This results from a trio of citrus fruits composed of bergamot, tangerine and lemon. Then, Shalimar Souffle Intense becomes more bewitching and feminine at heart. This juice is revealed more floral and solar, associating jasmine and orange blossom. Finally, its base is further enhanced with white musk. Two different vanillas finally come to coat its wake with a more syrupy breath. Shalimar Souffle Intense contains vanilla from India and vanilla from Tahiti.
