The recipe (serves 6)
Ingredients
- 3 cups shredded cooked turkey OR chicken
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 carrots; diced
- 2 celery stalks; diced
- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream OR milk
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 2 sheets refrigerated puff pastry
Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F
- In saucepan; melt butter
- Sauté onion; carrots; celery 5-7 minutes
- Sprinkle flour; cook 1-2 minutes
- Whisk in broth; cream
- Simmer until thickened; 3-5 minutes
- Add turkey; peas; salt; pepper; thyme
- Pour into a 9x13 baking dish
- Top with puff pastry; cut slits for venting
- Brush with beaten egg
- Bake 25-30 minutes until golden
